11 July 2001 | Major donors and other visitors toured the new Arid House during the UC Botanical Garden’s second annual garden party on June 16. The greenhouse will be home to more than 3,000 plants representing more than 2,000 species of cacti and succulents from around the world. A multi-chambered structure designed to accommodate plants with different growing requirements, it features computerized climate control and moveable trays designed to improve visitors’ ability to view the specimens. At right, visitor Klaus Dehlinger checks out an adenium cv. Volcanic Sunset in the Arid House.
