Workplace diversity success stories sought for publication
Do you know of a campus department — perhaps your own — that has dealt successfully with issues involving diversity, fairness and inclusiveness?

Departments are invited to share details about successful procedures, practices, activities, trainings or organizational changes, for inclusion in a new best-practices resource for the campus.

Submissions should describe programs that are innovative, can be adapted or replicated by other departments, improve the work environment and meet diverse needs.

For information and a submission form, see the Human Resources web site, at hrweb.berkeley.edu/aaeeo/success.htm. Send completed applications to Donna Griffin, Staff Affirmative Action Office, 641 University Hall, MC1130.

Employment Services extends office hours for job seekers
Job applicants who work full-time will now have easier access to employment services on campus. As of Jan. 22, the office’s hours have been extended. The new hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Departments may pick up and drop off application packets during extended hours by making advance arrangements with Employment Services.

For information, call Sheila Taliaferro at 642-0657.

Docent training program at Botanical Garden begins Feb. 4
The UC Botanical Garden is about to start its next volunteer docent training series, scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m., Mondays, Feb. 4 to May 20. Volunteers learn about the garden’s extensive plant collection and how to lead tours. A small fee is required.

For information or to register, call 643-1924.

New cost-sharing policies for grant applications announced
The campus has issued new guidelines on cost sharing in grant applications.

Central campus funds will now only be considered in proposals with mandatory cost-sharing requirements, as indicated in a program announcement or request for proposal.

Cost sharing is that portion of a project or program budget that is not paid for by the sponsor or sponsors of the projects.

For information on the new guidelines, see www.berkeley.edu:5027/cgi-bin/deans_memos/deans_memos.pl.

Bear’s Lair Brewpub holds grand re-opening party Feb. 5
Following a year of renovation, the Bear’s Lair Brewpub will hold a grand re-opening party, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5.

Members of the campus community are invited to enjoy light jazz and free samples of food, craft brews and wine from the pub’s new menu. The pub is located on the ground floor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union, on Lower Sproul plaza.

Comments sought on new supervisory job titles

The campus has proposed a new list of supervisory titles for non-represented employees in various professional classifications. Campus staff and faculty are invited to comment on the proposed changes, which are available online as well as in hard copy.

For a list of supervisory titles, see www.
ucop.edu/humres/supprop_titles.pdf
. Proposed changes may be found at www.ucop.edu/humres/supprop_sp02.pdf" and www.ucop.edu/humres/supprop_sp60.pdf.
The draft proposal is also available at the Human Resources office front desk, 207 University Hall. For information, see the employee relations specialist in your unit or call Employee Relations’ customer service line, 642-7163.
