Friday, March 8 (International Women’s Day)
Talk by Israeli peace activist
Israeli peace activist and writer Rela Mazali, author of “Maps of Women’s Goings and Stayings,” speaks from noon to 1 p.m., in 60 Evans. A founder of the New Profile movement to de-militarize Israeli civil society, Mazali has worked for many years to end the occupation of the Palestinian territories. International Latina Day Cultural Celebration
Come meet other mujeres while celebrating the contributions of Latinas worldwide, at International Latina Day Cultural Celebration.

Making Movie Magic
Bridget Goodman of Industrial Light & Magic is working on the upcoming movies “Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones” and “Men in Black II” as a viewpainter.

In a 2 p.m. appearance at Lawrence Hall of Science, Goodman will talk about her profession and how she came to work in the movies. For information, call LHS at 642-5132.

Fossil Finding with Annie Montague Alexander: A Theatrical Presentation
Annie Montague Alexander was an extraordinary woman. Living from 1867 to 1950, she collected and contributed more than 40,000 specimens of animals, plants and fossils to the University of California’s collections.
In a one-woman play at Lawrence Hall of Science, Andrea Chiles dramatizes Alexander’s 1905 fossil-collecting expedition to Nevada’s Humboldt Range, which led to the unearthing of Icthyosaurus skeleton deposits. Performances are at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. For information, call LHS at 642-5132.
