Four new deans have been named to lead Berkeley academic efforts at the Haas School of Business, the College of Natural Resources, the Biological Sciences Division in the College of Letters and Science, and the School of Public Health. Tom Campbell, Stanford law professor and former congressman, will become dean of the business school Aug. 19. Paul Ludden, a noted biochemist, will begin his duties overseeing the College of Natural Resources on Sept. 1, after 21 years in the biochemistry department at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Also taking the helm is W. Geoffrey Owen, professor and chair of Berkeley’s Department of Molecular and Cell Biology. On July 1, he becomes dean of the Biological Sciences Division in the College of Letters and Science. The fourth new dean is Stephen Shortell, a prominent researcher in health policy and organizational behavior at Berkeley, who assume his post at the School of Public Health in September.
