04 September 2002 | Haas School of Business Dean Tom Campbell, center, congratulates Estefania Hurtado and Erick Rodriguez-Gonzalez on their participation in the 2002 Berkeley YouthWorks program, at a recognition luncheon at the
business school on Aug 26. The annual event celebrated a 14-year partnership between the campus and the City
of Berkeley in providing summer employment opportunities for local youth, allowing them to gain work experience and exposure to diverse career options in a stimulating campus environment.

Student employees and program supervisors offered presentations highlighting their work experiences and perspectives on the value of the program. Two dozen campus supervisors were recognized for their mentorship, and 33 young workers were honored for their performance. Student employees, ranging in ages from 16 to 21, worked as lab assistants, clerks and administrative assistants, maintenance and custodial workers, and landscapers in several academic and administrative campus departments.
