A growing commitment to community groups
02 October 2002 | UC Berkeley collaborates with community groups on programs and activities that promote a variety of worthy goals, from job training and youth employment to recreation, civic engagement, and economic development. On Sept. 23, Chancellor Berdahl and his wife, Peg, hosted an event at University House to celebrate the achievements of 14 such partnerships, including School Change Through School Gardens, a collaboration between several East Bay Schools and the UC Botanical Garden. Shown here, clockwise from left: Christine Manoux, UC Botanical Garden; Rivka Mason, Malcolm X School, Berkeley; Marie Dehghanfard, Lazear Elementary School, Oakland; Katie Johnson and Kathleen Lewis, Oxford School, Berkeley.
