The Cal softball team, winner of this year’s NCAA championship — Cal’s first in this sport — was honored in Washington, D.C. last week. Team members met with Representative Barbara Lee (D-Oakland), seen here holding a softball. During a stop at the White House, player Candace Harper presented President Bush with an official Cal jersey with his name on the back. The champs also met California Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein and attended a reception in the team’s honor put on by the Washington chapter of the California Alumni Association. The Cal softball players defeated defending champion Arizona 6-0 in the College World Series in May.
