Speed up the Internet — win big prizes!

Berkeley served as the Western regional host of the Siemens Westinghouse Competition in Math, Science, and Technology, in which Allan Chu, a high-school senior from Saratoga, won first-prize honors for the creation of a new data-compression algorithm for the Internet. Chu and two other regional winners will advance to the national competition in December.
