Nominations sought for service-learning award The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 3. Nominations should be sent to Service-Learning Research and Development Center, 615 University Hall, MC 1040. Campus car-sharing program launches The program will start with two vehicles — new green Volkswagen Beetles — and grow as demand warrants. One of the Beetles will be displayed on Sproul Plaza during a kick-off event between 10 a.m and 2 p.m on Wednesday, Feb. 5. There, the campus community can inspect the car and learn how to participate. Parking and Transportation is partnering with City CarShare, a local, non-profit organization, to launch the program. Visit www.berkeley.edu/transportation or call 352-0323 for information. ‘Tree of Life’ public lectures on Feb. 1 On Saturday, Feb. 1, the Berkeley Natural History Museums present “Understanding the Tree of Life,” a day of talks by expert speakers Carrine Blank, Brent Mishler, John Taylor, David Lindberg, Jeff Boore, and Kip Will. Check-in is at 8:30 a.m. on the second floor of the Valley Life Sciences Building. Pre-registration is required. The cost is $20 for members of any one of the campus’s six natural-history museums, $25 for non-members, free for students.
