Background:
Borenstein is co-director of the Center for the Study of Energy
Markets and a former member of the governing board of the California
Power Exchange and the California Attorney General's Gasoline
Price Task Force.
He has conducted extensive local, state and national interviews. As gas prices climb, Borenstein is in constant demand by the media and comments on a wide range of related issues, including oil and gas market prices.
A few of his spring 2004 interviews include the NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, about gas prices; KCBS radio on the indictment of Reliant energy traders; KTVU TV (Ch-2)on the closure of Shell Bakersfield refinery; and the San Francisco Chronicle about a summer energy warning for California and uncertainty surrounding Pacific Gas & Electric Co.
He received his B.A. in economics from UC Berkeley and his Ph.D. in economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
