Faculty luncheon - Faculty members from Cal and Stanford and all
living Nobel Prize winners from each university will be honored Nov. 14
at a luncheon at Planet Hollywood in San Francisco. A 11 a.m. reception
will be followed by the luncheon and a guest speaker.
The Big Auction - Cal and Stanford broadcasters Joe Starkey and
Bob Murphy will emcee a fund-raising dinner/auction to be held at the Cow
Palace in Daly City on Nov. 21.
Axe Games - The finals of the Nike Axe Games competition between
Cal and Stanford students will take place on Angell Field on the morning
of the Big Game. Nike is also sponsoring a Kids' Day Axe Games Competition
on Nov. 21.
San Jose Big Game Luncheon - Set for Nov. 21 at the Fairmont Hotel
in San Jose, this event annually draws more than 800 executives and business
people from Silicon Valley and is emceed by Bob Murphy.
Seat Yourself - All 85,000 fans entering Stanford Stadium on Nov.
22 for the 100th Big Game will receive a seat cushion courtesy of Cisco
Systems.
Tailgate Party - Johnsonville Foods is sponsoring a Big Game Tailgate
Party on Nov. 22 for students and their families on Angell Field. A small
donation to the Montgomery Securities Camp for Kids Program will entitle
each guest to a sausage, chips and soda.
Camp for kids - A foundation to help fund 100 summer camp scholarships
for Bay Area youth has been established. At half-time of the Big Game, a
check to kick off the Camps for Kids Program for the summer of 1998 will
be presented.
100th Big Game Video - Emmy-award winning producer Lee
Mendelson is developing a 30-minute documentary on the history of the
Big Game. The film will relive the greatest Big Games of all time and will
include many interviews with past participants. |
