ALUMS REALLY KNOW HOW TO WINE Next time you pour yourself a glass of Kendall-Jackson or Navarro wine, you might just be drinking a former classmate's product. A surprising number of California vintners are Berkeley alumni. More than 23 wineries, all with Cal connections, participated in a June 19 wine tasting on campus. The event benefited the Berkeley-Oakland-Piedmont Alumni Club Scholarship Fund. The vintners poured their latest releases of Zinfandels, Chardonnays and Sauvignons for a crowd of 200 people, who emptied 12 cases before the night was over.
The wine tasting helped raise money for the club's Leadership Awards, which provide annual scholarships for new students. |
