NOTE:
Commencement
Convocation, an annual event, includes a colorful procession
of academicians robed in full regalia. No diplomas are
awarded to students at the ceremony. Instead, they are
distributed at more than 50 departmental graduations held
throughout May. Only graduating seniors and their guests
can obtain tickets to attend Commencement Convocation.
Reporters
wishing to cover the event should RSVP and obtain more
information from UC Berkeley Media Relations, (510) 642-3734.
Security will be in place for the ceremony because of
Albright's prominence. The Department of State's Diplomatic
Security Service advises against bringing large or numerous
personal belongings to the theater, as all objects must
be screened and searched before the ceremony begins. The
theater will open at 2:45 p.m., and arriving early is
encouraged because of these security checks.
