"The
Law, the Constitution and the Gore-Bush Presidential
Contest," a panel discussion by distinguished faculty
members at the University of California, Berkeley's
School of Law (Boalt Hall). They will explore legal
issues raised in the aftermath of last week's presidential
election.

WHO: |
Jesse
Choper, Earl Warren Professor of Public Law. Choper
is an expert on Constitutional law, federalism, presidential
powers, the U.S. Supreme Court and elections. Upon graduation
from law school, he served as law clerk to Chief Justice
Earl Warren of the U.S. Supreme Court. He was dean of
Boalt Hall from 1982-1992.
John
Yoo, professor of law. Yoo is an expert on Constitutional
law, federalism, state government, separation of powers,
the U.S. Supreme Court and federal appellate law. After
graduating from law school, he clerked for Judge Laurence
H. Silberman of the U.S. Court of Appeals of the District
of Columbia Circuit. He joined the Boalt Hall faculty
in 1993, then clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas of
the U.S. Supreme Court. He also served as General Counsel
of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Yoo has represented
the state of California and public interest groups in
federal appellate litigation.
Philip
Frickey, Richard W. Jennings Professor of Law. Frickey
is an expert on Constitutional law, statutory interpretation
and the legislative process. After law school, he clerked
for Judge John Minor Wisdom of the 5th U.S. Circuit
Court of Appeals and for Justice Thurgood Marshall of
the U.S. Supreme Court. He then practiced law for three
years in Washington, D.C.
