Former President
Bill Clinton's Jan. 29 speech at UC Berkeley to be broadcast live via
closed-circuit on campus and by webcast over the Internet
BERKELEY -
Former President Bill Clinton's Jan. 29 speech at UC Berkeley will be
broadcast live over the Internet and also be video
simulcast at UC Berkeley.
The talk, scheduled
to begin at 2:30 p.m., takes place at UC Berkeley's Zellerbach Auditorium.
Demand for the 2014 seats at Zellerbach exceeded supply. The event is
sold-out with no tickets remaining.
Members
of the campus community who were unable to get tickets to the free event
in Zellerbach Hall may watch the speech live on video screens in the
Haas Pavilion. The rear doors to the pavilion, those on the west side
facing Evans (baseball) Field, are expected to open at about 2:30 p.m.
That entrance is best accessible off of Frank Schlessinger Way, which
is near the corner of Oxford and Center streets.
The
event will also include brief remarks by California Gov. Gray Davis.
Orville Schell, dean of UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism,
will hold a conversation with Clinton following the former president's
speech.
For
those attending the event in Zellerbach Hall, please note that no backpacks
and no flash photography will be allowed inside the auditorium.
The event is being
sponsored by the chancellor’s office and the Graduate School of
Journalism in association with Cal Performances and City Arts and Lectures.
WEBCAST:
Though it's possible that Clinton's talk won't start right on time, the
webcast will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 29. The webcast audience
is limited to the first 300 people to join the broadcast. Shortly
after the live event, the webcast will be archived online and can be
viewed at any time.
