WHAT:
A news conference with Costa Rican President Miguel A. Rodríguez at the University of California, Berkeley.

Reporters will have half an hour to meet with Rodríguez before he gives the keynote address for UC Berkeley's Charter Day program, which commemorates the 134th anniversary of the founding of the University of California.

 
 

WHEN:
11:00 - 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 15. Only credentialed media will be admitted.

WHO:
Rodríguez, who received his PhD in economics from UC Berkeley in 1966, has been president of Costa Rica for the last four years. During his tenure, which ends in May, he has attracted foreign investment to Costa Rica, controlled government spending and debt, and managed inflation while attacking poverty. He is expected to discuss free trade issues and development in Latin America.
