Student group admonished, temporary suspension lifted

The University of California, Berkeley's Media Relations office issued the following memo on Monday, May 6, 2002.
The Student Judicial Affairs office at the University of California, Berkeley, has concluded its investigation into allegations that Students for Justice in Palestine violated the campus's Code of Student Conduct.At a meeting on May 6, the group's leaders were informed that the group had been formally admonished for the April 9 occupation of Wheeler Hall and the disruption of classes in that building. With the investigation concluded, the group's privileges as a registered student group were reinstated. Students for Justice in Palestine may book Sproul Plaza for scheduled events, set up an information table on Sproul Plaza and reserve classrooms for group meetings. The conclusion of the case against the student group has no bearing on the Student Judicial Affairs office's pending investigation into cases against individual students for allegedly unlawfully occupying Wheeler Hall and disrupting classes on April 9.
