BERKELEY – The Media Relations office at the University of California, Berkeley, will be issuing periodic memos to war editors with information that may be useful in covering the conflict in Iraq. This is our first correspondence.
Experts List: Conflict with Iraq
Dozens of UC Berkeley scholars are available to speak with reporters on a variety of war-related issues. This list, available online, is being updated continuously. If you prefer an e-mailed copy, or to have the list mailed or faxed to you, let us know.
Children's stress about war
Dr. Thomas Boyce, professor of epidemiology and child development, gives advice to adults about how to best help youngsters with their questions and fears about the war. See the story online.
Chancellor's message
Chancellor Robert M. Berdahl, an historian, talks about why the war is a "unprecedented departure in American foreign policy" in a campus news story. Berdahl also talks about how universities, and UC Berkeley in particular, have a unique role to play as places where differing ideas and factions "come together, intersect, and interact."
Lecture tonight (March 20) by newsmaker John Brady Kiesling
Kiesling, a career foreign service officer who recently resigned his post with the U.S. State Department in protest of the Bush administration's foreign policy and threatened war with Iraq, will speak at 7:30 p.m. in Sibley Auditorium. His talk is on "Preserving America's Moral Capital," and he will be available for interviews. Call for more information.
