WHAT
A demonstration by Matteo Garbelotto, an adjunct assistant professor of ecosystem sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, of the first and only treatment for Sudden Oak Death approved by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation. The treatment was registered Wednesday, Oct. 1, on a fast-tracked basis.
The decision was based upon research conducted by Garbelotto, one of the world's leading experts on Sudden Oak Death, showing that the treatment is effective in preventing or slowing down infection in oak and tanoak trees. He will demonstrate the techniques used to treat these trees.
A full release and FAQ will be available online by 9 a.m. at http://newscenter.berkeley.edu, and at the demonstration.
