WHAT
The annual Big Game chemistry show - a University of California, Berkeley, event for about 40 years - when professor emeritus of chemistry Sam Markowitz turns a test tube of red and white liquid into Cal blue and gold.

DETAILS
Chemistry professor emeritus Sam Markowitz has hosted a Big Game Show in his introductory chemistry class since the early 1960s. This year, as in past years, the Cal Marching Band will interrupt Chem 1A for 15 minutes of fun. After the band marches through the lecture hall playing Cal fight songs, Markowitz will bring out a three-foot-tall test tube with red fluid on top and white on the bottom, symbolizing Stanford's colors. Stirring as he lectures the students about the importance of Cal spirit, Markowitz hopes to change the liquid into Cal's colors, blue and gold, and presage a Cal win at Saturday's Big Game.
