He will spend his time at the Goldman School teaching a course on wealth and poverty, giving public lectures, and working on a new book about leadership and change.
Reich is a University Professor and Maurice Hexter Professor of Social and Economic Policy at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. He served as an assistant to the solicitor general in the Ford administration and headed the policy planning staff of the Federal Trade Commission during the Carter administration. In 2002, he ran for the Democratic nomination for governor of Massachusetts.
The author of nine books relating to politics and the economy, Reich's 10th book, "Reason," is due out in May.
He was the recipient of the 2003 Vaclav Havel Prize for his contributions to social thought. He earned his B.A. from Dartmouth College, a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford, where he received a master's degree, and a law degree from Yale University Law School. Reich also has eight honorary degrees.
Reich said he is excited to be at the Goldman School, which, he said, "stands at the true pinnacle of excellence." He and Goldman School Dean Michael Nacht previously worked together at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.
His first formal public lecture is set for April 13, with details to be announced.
