WHAT
A showing of film clips from the Oscar-nominated documentary "The
Fog of War," followed by a panel discussion between former
U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara and film director
Errol Morris, both alumni of the University of California,
Berkeley. Mark Danner, a writer and UC Berkeley journalism
professor, will moderate.
The film tells the story of America and conflict in the 20th century as witnessed by McNamara, who played roles in World War II, the Cold War and Vietnam. It explores how the United States government justifies the use of military might.

Zellerbach Auditorium, on Lower Sproul Plaza, just northwest of the intersection of Telegraph Avenue and Bancroft Way.
DETAILS
The film combines archival footage, newly declassified White House recordings, recreated scenes and an original score by composer Philip Glass.
Sponsors are the Goldman Forum on the Press and Foreign Affairs at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, the Office of the Chancellor, Pacific Film Archive and the Commonwealth Club.
