WHAT
"Selling out the First Amendment," a conversation at the University of California, Berkeley, between John Carroll, Los Angeles Times editor and executive vice president, and Michael Krasny, host of KQED radio's "Forum." Carroll and Krasny will discuss the collision of news, entertainment and politics.

WHEN
7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 19.

WHERE
Wheeler Auditorium, near the center of the UC Berkeley campus.

DETAILS
Carroll joined the LA Times editorial team in April 2000. He previously was senior vice president and editor of the Baltimore Sun, and worked at the Lexington Herald in Kentucky, the Lexington Leader-Herald, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Providence Journal in Rhode Island.

Carroll also covered Vietnam, the Middle East and the White House for the Baltimore Sun.

The event is free to UC Berkeley students. For others wishing to attend, tickets are $5 per person. Tickets are available through the Cal Performances box office, which can be reached at (510) 642-9988. The program will be videotaped and webcast later.
