Philanthropist George Soros visits the University of California, Berkeley, to discuss "The Bubble of American Supremacy" and the United States' notion of self-supremacy in the world.

DETAILS:Orville Schell, dean of UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, will join Soros for the onstage conversation that will be presented by the Goldman Forum on the Press & Foreign Affairs at the journalism school.
A native of Hungary, Soros survived the Nazi occupation of Budapest and left Communist Hungary in 1947 for England, where he graduated from the London School of Economics. He moved to the United States in 1956 and founded a successful international investment fund that he chairs today. An active philanthropist since 1979, Soros heads the Soros Open Society Institute and is the founder of a network of philanthropic groups that is active in more than 50 countries and spent $474 million on education, public health and other areas last year. He is the author of numerous essays, articles and books on politics, economics and society.
Event co-sponsors are the UC Berkeley Office of the Chancellor, the Commonwealth Club of California, and the World Affairs Council of Northern California.
TICKETS:The event is free for UC Berkeley students, who must get their tickets in advance at the Cal Performances box office. General admission tickets are available for purchase at the box office by calling (510) 642-9988.
