WHAT
The University of California, Berkeley's 2004 Commencement Convocation, an event to honor all graduating students. Ted Koppel, anchor and managing editor of ABC News "Nightline," will deliver the keynote address.
WHEN
4 p.m., Thursday, May 13. Convocation includes a colorful procession of students and faculty members, the presentation of awards, and several speeches. It is scheduled to conclude shortly before 6 p.m.
WHERE
The Greek Theatre, UC Berkeley. The amphitheater, which seats about 6,000 people, is on Gayley Road, near Memorial Stadium.
WHO
Ted Koppel, a 39-year veteran of ABC News, is the principal on-air reporter and interviewer for "Nightline," television's first late night network news program. Other speakers at convocation will include top graduating senior Margaret Ann-Chia Chow, recipient of this year's University Medal.
DETAILS
This event is not open to the public -tickets have been given to graduating seniors and their families. Reporters are invited to cover convocation, and special seats have been set aside for them. The theater will open at 3 p.m., and credentialed media may enter through the south gate. Press packets will be available upon entry.
A limited number of parking spaces for credentialed media have been set aside in the Bowles Hall parking lot adjacent to the theater. Enter the lot off of Gayley Road, between the Greek Theatre and Maxwell Family Field. Please call the above number to reserve a space.
