WHAT
"BlogOn," a University of California, Berkeley, conference on emerging social media including online journals called blogs, online social networks and other electronic social technologies. These are being used to connect people, and are associated with trends in investing, marketing opportunities and new business models.
The event will feature demonstrations of technologies such as mob-blogging, as well as discussions about how to use blogs for public relations, customer relationships and products.
WHEN
Thursday and Friday, July 22-23.
1-4 p.m. "BlogOn" boot camp and a conference reception and "Defining Social Media" panel from 6-8 p.m., will be held on Thursday. More panel discussions and speakers will run from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Friday.
WHERE
Andersen Auditorium at the Haas School, on Gayley Road between Hearst and Bancroft avenues.
WHO
Participants will include online publishers, entrepreneurs, corporate leaders and academics.
In addition to corporate support, the conference is being sponsored by UC Berkeley's School of Information Systems & Management, the Management of Technology Program at the Haas School of Business, and the Graduate School of Journalism.
