A program saluting 60 years of pioneering work by the University of California, Berkeley's Institute of Industrial Relations, with presentations and discussions on debates over globalization, new immigration research and policy proposals, the future of organized labor in California, and public policies to improve California's economy.

. UC Berkeley Professor of Public Policy Steve Raphael
. Art Pulaski, executive secretary-treasurer of the California Labor Federation, AFL-CIO
. Tom Rankin, former president of the California Labor Federation, AFL-CIO
. UC Berkeley Lecturer Maria Echaveste
. Kim Voss, a UC Berkeley professor of sociology whose recent work focuses on the politics of the contemporary labor movement in the United States
. Institute researchers and other UC Berkeley faculty

DETAILS
The Institute of Industrial Relations was founded in 1945, and its first director was UC President Emeritus Clark Kerr. The current director is Michael Reich, a UC Berkeley economics professor. The institute brings together faculty from several academic departments and supports multidisciplinary research about labor and employment relations. Recent policy research has focused on impacts of the minimum wage, health care reform and low wage workers.
