WHAT
Top family therapy experts will talk about the modern-day challenges faced by Bay Area couples, including difficulties faced by dual-income couples, gay and lesbian parents and stay-at-home dads. The event is being co-hosted by UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center, the Harold E. Jones Child Study Center, and the Graduate School of Journalism's Felker Magazine Program. The event is free and open to the public.

WHO
Speakers will include:
- Stephanie Coontz, a historian at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash., and director of research and public education for the Council on Contemporary Families. Her books include "The Way We Really Are: Coming to Terms with America's Changing Families."
- Joshua Coleman, an internationally renowned family therapist. His books include "The Marriage Makeover: Finding Happiness in Imperfect Harmony" and "The Lazy Husband: How to Get Men to Do More Parenting and Housework."
- Philip Cowan, UC Berkeley professor of psychology emeritus and former director of the clinical psychology department and the Institute of Human Development at UC Berkeley.
- Carolyn Pape Cowan, UC Berkeley professor of psychology emerita. She and her husband, Philip, have collaborated on several long-term family projects, include a study of 200 nuclear families that resulted in their book, "When Partners Become Parents: The Big Life Change for Couples."
- Jeremy Adam Smith, managing editor of Greater Good magazine. His forthcoming book "Twenty-First-Century Dad: How Caregiving Fathers (and Breadwinning Moms) Are Transforming the American Family," will be published by Beacon Press. He will moderate the panel.
