"Beyond the Wall: The Future of Immigration Policy," a panel discussion hosted by the University of California, Berkeley's Center for Latin American Studies.

WHO
Speakers will be:
- California State Sen. Gilbert Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, author of "A Social, Public Safety, and Security Argument for Licensing Undocumented Drivers," a 2004 policy paper for the Center for Latin American Studies that outlines one of his major policy initiatives on immigration.
- Maria Echaveste, a lecturer at UC Berkeley's School of Law and a scholar in residence at the school's Chief Justice Earl Warren Institute on Race, Ethnicity and Diversity. Echaveste served from 1998 to 2001 as deputy chief of staff and assistant to the president on domestic policy initiatives dealing with education, civil rights, immigration and bankruptcy reform and specialized in international issues related to Latin America.
- Providing commentary on their talk will be Professor Harley Shaiken, chair of the Center for Latin American Studies; Lydia Chávez, a professor at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism; and Alex Saragoza, a professor in UC Berkeley's Department of Ethnic Studies.
