WHAT
"Freedom from Oil," a public talk by David Sandalow, senior fellow at The Brookings Institution and a former assistant secretary of state, in which he discusses his new book by the same title. The presentation, sponsored by the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS) at the University of California, Berkeley, includes a question-and-answer session with Sandalow, an energy and environment scholar and former senior director at the National Security Council.

Sandalow's book, released in October, explores the potential impacts - should the next president make ending oil dependence a top priority - on transportation policy, the types of vehicles driven in the country, alternative fuels and more. "Freedom from Oil" offers insights into both energy policy and White House decision-making, culminating with a hypothetical speech by a new president.

290 Hearst Memorial Mining Building, the Maria & Dado Banatao Conference Room, UC Berkeley
