Applications sought for Chancellor's Community Partnership Fund
BERKELEY – The University of California, Berkeley is inviting local community groups to apply for grants from the Chancellor's Community Partnership Fund for 2008-2009. Non-profit organizations and neighborhood groups based in the city of Berkeley that propose projects in partnership with the campus to improve the quality of life for city residents are eligible to apply for funding.
In its first two years, the fund awarded grants to 28 diverse projects in the areas of educational enrichment, the arts, homeless services, the environment, historic preservation, and neighborhood improvement.
Through a competitive process, the fund will distribute $212,000 in 2008 for projects in two categories: neighborhood improvement projects that enhance community facilities or the physical environment of Berkeley neighborhoods and community support, and service projects that further the economic, social or cultural well-being of Berkeley residents.
Grant proposals are due by May 1, 2008, and awards will be announced in August.

The Chancellor's Community Partnership Fund was established as part of the university's agreement with the city of Berkeley following the adoption of the UC Berkeley 2020 Long Range Development Plan. Since its inception in 2006, the fund has awarded more than $405,000 in grants to community-based organizations. Annual allocations to the fund will be made through the year 2020.
