Vice presidential debate watch to take place Thursday
BERKELEY – MEMO TO THE MEDIA: Vice presidential debate night watch at UC Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies
University of California, Berkeley, students will gather at the university's Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) on Thursday (Oct. 2) to watch the vice presidential candidates' debate. The IGS event is co-sponsored by two student groups: Berkeley College Republicans and Cal Berkeley Democrats.
In addition, one hour before the debate begins, a panel of political experts will discuss the role of debates in campaigns. The UC Berkeley panelists will include David Karol, assistant professor of political science, and Jack Citrin, professor of political science.
The panel discussion will run from 5 to 6 p.m. The debate watch will occur 6 to 7:30 p.m. Both events will take place at the institute's library, Room 109, Moses Hall. For a map of the location, go to: www.berkeley.edu/map/.
IGS will also sponsor debate watch events the evenings of the second and third presidential candidates' debates on Oct. 7 and Oct. 15 at the same time and location.
