Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to give Mario Savio Memorial Lecture, receive Young Activist Award in Berkeley Dec. 4

WHAT

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an environmental attorney, law professor, activist and author will deliver the 12th annual Mario Savio Memorial Lecture.

The lecture and Young Activist Award honor the late Mario Savio, a leader of the Free Speech Movement of 1964, a civil rights worker, a University of California, Berkeley, student and later a teacher at Sonoma State University.

Kennedy will speak on "Our Environmental Destiny." Named a "Hero for the Planet" by Time magazine, he recently authored "Crimes Against Nature: How George W. Bush and His Pals are Plundering the Country and Hijacking Our Democracy."

The Young Activist Award goes each year to a young person who exhibits a deep commitment to human rights and social justice, and has the ability to translate that commitment into action.

Berkeley Community Theatre, 1930 Allston Way, Berkeley. The theater is located between Milvia Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

The program is presented by the board of directors of the Mario Savio Memorial Lecture and Young Activist Award, in cooperation with the UC Berkeley Library, UC Berkeley's Graduate Assembly, the Free Speech Movement Café and the Berkeley Unified School District.
