 WHAT

Cal Day, the University of California, Berkeley's free, annual public open house that attracts more than 35,000 visitors to campus. The Year of Science and the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth will be highlighted in several Cal Day events, as will the Obama administration and the current economic crisis. Cal Day favorites will return, including carillon recitals, OskiLand, robotic racecars, a children's book fair with storytellers, and free admission to all museums.

 WHEN

9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, April 18

 WHERE

The entire UC Berkeley campus, including the Lawrence Hall of Science and the UC Botanical Garden. A campus map for Cal Day is available at: http://calday.berkeley.edu/2009/map.shtml.

 WHO

DETAILS

Admission is free to nearly all the 300-plus events. Campus parking is free on Cal Day in designated areas, but spaces typically fill up early. Visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transportation to get to UC Berkeley. Free shuttle buses will take visitors to campus from the downtown Berkeley BART station, and motorized cable cars will be available for campus tours.
