WHAT
Pioneering feminist and Ms. Magazine founder Gloria Steinem and United Farm Workers Union co-founder Dolores Huerta will join more than two dozen nationally prominent activists and authors at the University of California, Berkeley, for a two-day Multicultural Women's Leadership Conference.
The event is being hosted by Engage Her, a non-profit women's leadership organization, and co-sponsored by UC Berkeley's multicultural student development unit in the Division of Equity and Inclusion. It will be capped by a conversation between Steinem; Huerta; Aileen Hernandez, former president of the National Organization for Women (NOW); and human rights activist Yuri Kochiyama about the next generation of feminism.

This Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Steinem's keynote address is on Sunday at noon in the Valley Life Sciences Building's auditorium. Linda Williams, UC Berkeley associate chancellor, will make welcoming remarks along with Huerta on Saturday. Other speakers will include author and Women's Media Center co-chair Helen Zia; Marie C. Wilson, co-founder of Take Your Daughter to Work Day; and Lesley Pinckney, general manager of Essence.com. Discussion topics will include health and sexuality, education, the economy, climate change, media stereotypes, social and family support, family work/life issues, feminism and "womanism."
