NEWS RELEASE, 4/26/96 MEDIA ADVISORY -- Vision Science Meeting at UC Berkeley

WHAT: A free public symposium on how to deal with the loss of vision, particularly as the population ages, sponsored by the UC Berkeley School of Optometry as part of a two-day conference on clinical applications of basic research in vision science. WHEN: The public symposium, titled, "Low Vision for the Lay Person," will be held Monday, April 29, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in room 2050 of the Valley Life Sciences Building. The conference itself will be 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29 in 355 Minor Hall. The scientists will be available at the conclusion to answer questions. WHY: Vision scientists from several parts of the world will attend the two-day conference, which will include data on the newest techniques for correcting nearsightedness with surgery.
