BERKELEY -- Apple Computer, Inc., co-founder Steve Wozniak heads a long list of prominent people - including politicians, scholars, writers, business and religious leaders - scheduled to speak this year at commencement celebrations at the University of California, Berkeley.

More than 60 departments, schools and colleges will hold dozens of separate graduation ceremonies between May 9 and May 26. More than 10,000 students are eligible to graduate this year - 7,500 with bachelor's degrees and nearly 2,600 with graduate degrees.

Wozniak, who received a BS in computer science from UC Berkeley in 1986, will deliver the main address on Tuesday, May 12, at the annual Commencement Convocation for all graduates. A limited number of tickets to the 4 p.m. Zellerbach Auditorium event will be available to the public starting today (May 6) at the Cal Performances Box Office.

Also speaking at the convocation, which is organized by the Senior Class Council, will be Chancellor Robert M. Berdahl; top graduating senior Mekhail Anwar, this year's University Medalist; and, on the occasion of the Class of 1948's 50th anniversary, alumna Marian Diamond, director emeritus of the Lawrence Hall of Science and UC Berkeley professor of integrative biology.

Other awards to be presented to students during the ceremony include the Priestley Award for leadership, the Mather Award for citizenship and several athletic awards.
