Caribbean Research
The Center for Latin American Studies has some travel grants available for graduate students whose graduate theses require field study in Caribbean countries. Awards cover only the cost of airfare. Applications are being accepted until April 14 for travel this summer. Pick them up at the center's main office, 2334 Bowditch St. #2312.
Hire a Cal Athlete, Attend Big Game Free
Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreational Sports needs employers to hire student athletes. As a token of gratitude, eligible employers will receive complimentary season passes to home football games plus the Big Game.

Women of Berkeley
A two-day program celebrating women at Berkeley over the last 125 years will begin April 28 at International House. Historians from across the U.S. will join Berkeley's own scholars to comment on the lives of women regents, faculty members, staff, spouses, alumni and students.
The event will conclude with a special session April 29 during Cal Day to honor Berkeley women who pioneered schools of thought or whose service to campus has been outstanding.

Two Essay Winners
Winners of this year's Lili Fabilli and Eric Hoffer Essay Contest are Christopher Haight, a library assistant at Doe, and undergraduate Reed Evans of dramatic art and rhetoric.
Essays are posted on the bulletin board outside 229 Sproul Hall.
Learning to Get Along
Berkeley's Model United Nations debate team did itself proud earning high honors during recent competitions at Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania. Model UN allows students to simulate the real United Nations.
Berkeley was assigned to represent Russia and the People's Republic of China, blockbuster members with veto power. Students studied foreign policy and attempted to hammer out solutions to conflict with representatives of other member nations.
