Undergraduate Affairs Seeks New Vice Chancellor

The university has announced its formal search for candidates to replace Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate Affairs Russ Ellis, who retired last year.

The vice chancellor is responsible for the creation, implementation and evaluation of services for Berkeley's highly diverse student body.

The vice chancellor works with the chancellor and other senior administrators in setting long-term goals and strategic direction for the campus and communicates the chancellor's goals and values to the campus community and the public.

The vice chancellor leads in the development of campus policies and the distribution of financial and human resources, coordinates with other campus units in academic achievement, retention, student affirmative action, admissions and financial aid, multicultural diversity, campus outreach and student conduct.

Applicants should have a record of accomplishment in executive leadership in student related activities, as well as an understanding of the legislative, regulatory and political environment, California demographic trends and a demonstrated commitment to affirmative action.

Applicants must have an outstanding record of achievement in research and teaching commensurate with appointment to a tenured professorship at the University of California.

Nominations and applications should be submitted by April 28.
