BAS Reorganization Alters Reporting Lines

Vice Chancellor Horace Mitchell has reconfigured the Business and Administrative Services division along functional lines effective July 1.

The reporting lines of several departments have been changed to enhance BAS leadership in priority areas such as improving the campus environment, developing integrated financial and human resource systems and providing cost-effective services.

In keeping with the campus goal of streamlining administrative operations, this reorganization clarifies roles and does not add new staff.

Associate Vice Chancellor Leroy Bean will continue to act as the division's second in command and serve as the acting vice chancellor for BAS in Mitchell's absence.

For a detailed organizational chart, please refer to a June 23 Deans/Directors memo or contact the Office of the Vice Chancellor--BAS at 642-3100.

Computer Trainers Want Your Feedback

The Basic Computer Skills Training Task Force invites campus staff to a forum to provide feedback and learn about a proposed computer skills training program.

Cal PACT (People and Computer Training) aims to provide computer training opportunities to prepare campus staff for working in a technological environment. All forums will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in 145 Dwinelle except where noted: July 25, 26 (in Sibley Auditorium) and 27, and Aug. 1 (in 150 University Hall), 2 and 3. (No food or drink is allowed in Dwinelle or Sibley Auditorium.)

If you cannot attend but want to comment, send comments via e-mail to calpact@tuna.

After July 24, the proposal will be available on the Berkeley Campus Personnel Office gopher or may be picked up from WSSG or the Personnel Office.

AIDS Walk Is July 16

Berkeley will again join with other corporate, government, school and community teams and thousands of women, men and children to take part in AIDS Walk San Francisco, Northern California's largest and most successful AIDS fund raising event.

Last year's AIDS Walk raised $2.8 million for Bay Area AIDS education and service providers.

This year on July 16 Berkeley will again join with UCSF and the Office of the President to form a UC team. Last year, the 950-member UC team raised $60,946, placing UC fourth among the more than 500 teams participating.

The 10K (6.2 mile) walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Sharon Meadow in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park.
