Hellman Fund Applications Due

Applications are available for faculty seeking research funding from the Hellman Family Faculty Fund. The fund is aimed specifically at supporting research of promising assistant professors at Berkeley.

This year, $250,000 will be available. Faculty may apply for a grant of up to $50,000.

Awards cannot replace salary, but they can be used for any other research-related expenses.

Prior to receiving an award from the fund, a faculty member would normally be expected to have served at least two years as an assistant professor but not have been recommended for tenure, said Carol Christ, the vice chancellor and provost.

An application and additional information are available by calling Kerry McDermott at 642-7486. Deadline to apply is March 4.
