Ira Jacknis, a research anthropologist at the Phoebe Hearst Museum of Anthropology, and Jose Rivera, a Native American of Apache-Nahuatal decent who is doctoral candidate at Berkeley, were among the participants of the 12th Annual California Indian Conference held Oct. 18 and 19 at International House. This year's conference brought together participants representing tribal groups, community organizations and universities from throughout the state for discussions on a variety of topics ranging from cultural preservation programs to contemporary social issues.
