Russian Economist

Yegor Gaidar, director of the Institute for the Economy in Transition and former prime minister of Russia, will deliver two 1996 Hitchcock Lectures. Gaidar will speak on "Two Russian Revolutions" Tuesday, Nov. 19. On Thursday, Nov. 21, he will lecture on "Five Years of Democratic Experiment in Russia."

Gaidar is considered to be among the most accomplished and respected of the group of young Russian economists trained in Western economic techniques. Before his resignation in 1994, Gaidar served in several positions under President Yeltsin, including prime minister, minister of the economy and minister of finance.

The lectures are sponsored by the Graduate Council. Both events are at 4:10 p.m. in International House Auditorium. For information call 643-7413.
