New Employee Orientation. Dec. 3, 8:30 a.m.-noon.

This orientation covers campus structure, campus culture, benefits, computer competency and safety related issues. Presentations addressing these issues are given by staff from the Berkeley campus Police Department; Environment, Health and Safety; University Health Services; and the campus Benefits Office.

Designing Training Programs, No. 1. Dec. 9 and 16, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

In this two-day workshop, participants learn various instructional techniques (such as presentations, small-group discussions, case studies, demonstration/ practice) to vary the training and maximize learning. You will also be shown criteria to consider when developing a lesson plan and ways of evaluating the effectiveness of training.

Computer Health Matters. Nov. 21, 10:30 a.m.-noon.

In this free workshop, learn about health issues related to computer use, design a user-friendly workstation and practice exercises to relieve computer-related aches and pains.

This class meets the campus Injury and Illness Prevention Program's health and safety training requirements for computer users.

Making Your Computer Workstations User Friendly. Dec. 10, 8 a.m.-12 noon

Learn the ABC's of a successful departmental computer health and safety program, practice the basics of a computer workstation evaluation and identify how to set priorities in modifying computer workstations. This is a training for departmental computer workstation evaluators.

CARE Services

When Anger Really Hurts. Dec. 3, noon-1 p.m.

Beckie Masaki, director of the Asian Women's Shelter, will discuss the origins, causes and impact of violence in romantic/domestic relationships.

Strategies for coping and referrals to community resources will be provided.

Bring your lunch. The workshop is free and no enrollment is necessary.
