Academic Personnel Proposals Two proposals affecting academic appointees are currently under review. The second is a proposal to eliminate the nominal stipends currently provided to individuals appointed as Professor in the Graduate School. Comments are due Dec. 15. Christ, the vice chancellor and provost, are available on the web at http://chance.berkeley.edu/apo/APOWhatsNew.html and at the reference desks of Doe and Moffitt libraries. Comments should be sent to Christ in care of Patti Owen, Office of Academic Personnel, 200 California Hall or via email to appolicy@uclink.berkeley.edu.
MSP Position Review The 1997 Management and Senior Professional (MSP ‚‚ formerly MAP) position review will begin in March. Requests for review, either within the MSP or into MSP, should be submitted to Compensation Manager Dorla Cantu at 207 University Hall, MC #3540, by Friday, Feb. 28. This deadline is later than in past years and is intended to give managers adequate time to review positions and submit complete packages through appropriate channels in a timely fashion. Position descriptions should be a maximum of two pages, specifically addressing the MSP factors of accountability, knowledge required, complexity and innovation. The submission should include an up-to-date organization chart and a cover letter highlighting significant changes to the position in support of the review. Only positions that have changed significantly should be submitted for review. Requests must be routed through the control unit's vice chancellor for review before forwarding to Human Resources. If you have questions about the MSP review process or the documentation required for review, contact your department's compensation analyst. |
