The "How-To's" of Relaxation. March 4, 10:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.

A sure way to reduce stressful experiences is through the practice of relaxation skills such as deep breathing, visualization, guided imagery and meditation. This workshop will help you identify which of these methods can help you cope with stress and will give you an opportunity to practice them.

Remarried With Children: Improving the Quality of Step-Family Life. March 5, noon-1 p.m.

Learn more about the intricacies and challenges of step-family life through an interactive discussion with Anthony Carpentieri, step-parent and family counselor. No enrollment is necessary. The workshop is held at the Tang Education Center.

Communicating Effectively With Staff You Supervise (a two-part workshop). March 6 and 13, 1 -2 p.m.

This two-part discussion group forms of communication that may prove most effective in staff meetings and/or individual meetings, written memos, email messages, education/training sessions and informal communications. Benefits and risks of each form of communication will be explored.

Business Writing Workshop Series, Fee: $25 per workshop.

Workshop #1 (Email: Effective Use and Etiquette). March 19, 12:10-1:30 p.m.

The class addresses ways to use email effectively to accomplish your business goals with professionalism.

Workshop #2 (Writing Protocol at UC Berkeley). March 21, 12:10-1:30 p.m.

This class highlights protocol issues in order to promote clarity and consistency in campus publications and correspondence.

Correctness in Writing: A Review of Grammar and Punctuation. Six two-hour sessions, March 19, 21, 26, and April 2, 4, and 9., 9-11 a.m. Fee: $120.

This course addresses the most common grammar and punctuation problems in a relaxed, fast-paced and fun way. Included are sentence fragments, run-ons and comma splices, comma and semi-colon rules, verb-subject agreement, subject-pronoun agreement, parallel construction problems, misplaced modifiers and forming plurals and possessives.

Taking Advantage of Change. March 26 or 27, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fee: $70.

Learn about key elements of the change process. Participants gain a clear strategy for anticipating future changes and for preparing yourself and your coworkers to meet and embrace change, instead of resisting or simply reacting to it.
