Worker's Compensation And Vocational Rehabilitation

ADA Training for Supervisors. Sept. 16, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

A workshop by vocational rehabilitation counselors and an employment analyst to clarify the Americans with Disabilities Act . The class discusses what an essential job function is, proper interviewing techniques under the law, how to assess what a reasonable accommodation is and how to properly complete required forms.

Workers' Compensation Benefits Procedures: Introductory. Sept. 17, 9 a.m.-noon.

Designed for department benefits counselors and payroll representatives, this workshop provides knowledge about campus procedures and processing workers' compensation supplemental benefits.

Hysterectomy Support Group. Sept. 16, noon-1 p.m.

This one-time group will provide participants an opportunity for information, sharing, discussion, and emotional support. This group is for women who have already had or are planning to have a hysterectomy in the future.

Healthy Latin American Cuisine. Sept. 24, 4-5 p.m.

Learn the importance of a low-fat diet in obtaining optimal health, discover ways to spice up your kitchen with healthy and low-fat ingredients, and taste samples and receive recipes to diversify your collection. Enrollment limited, call early.

Avoiding the Mouse Trap: Pros and Cons of Alternative Pointing Devices. Sept. 23, 12:10-1 p.m.

Obtain pointers on safe mouse use, receive an update on alternative pointing devices available and learn the pros and cons of various pointing devices.

Employee Development And Training

New Employee Orientation. Sept. 16, Oct. 7 or 14, 8:30 a.m.-noon.

This orientation, offered twice monthly, covers campus structure, campus culture, benefits, computer competency, and safety related issues. Presentations addressing these issues are given by staff from the campus police department; Environment, Health and

Safety; University Health Services; and the campus benefits office.

Financial Controls/Quantitative Analysis. Oct. 13 and 15, 1:30-5 p.m.

Using examples of university budget and financial data, participants in this two-day workshop learn to identify key data, determine their meaning and present data effectively.

Participants also learn how to identify and calculate fixed and variable costs and practice preparing variance, historical and comparative reports.

CAL PACT

Cal People and Computer Training offers hands-on training in small classes for campus computer users, focusing on the basic skills needed to function effectively at the workstation.

Core competency classes introduce participants to the campus computing environment and resources. Computer literacy classes offer training in common software packages for both Mac and PC.
