Professional Skills Assessment Program
- The Professional Skills Assessment Program is a university-wide program
designed to provide knowledge and feedback on job-related skills for staff
preparing to assume responsibilities at the professional level.
- This program takes place over four days, from March 31 through April
3, at a residential conference center. Participants demonstrate their skills
and receive feedback from university professional staff.
- All UC career employees at the level of administrative assistant I
to non-supervising administrative assistant III, or equivalent, are eligible
to be nominated by their supervisors.
- The cost for the residential program is a $450 recharge fee for participants.
The application deadline is Jan. 23.

Management Skills Assessment Program
- The Management Skills Assessment Program is a university-wide management
development program, designed to provide feedback on management skills,
which in turn can improve on-the-job performance.
- This program takes place over four days, from May 5 through May 8,
at a residential conference center. Participants demonstrate and evaluate
their management skills and receive feedback from university managers.
- All UC supervisors, managers or professional staff at the Administrative
Assistant III level or above are eligible to be nominated by their supervisors.
- The $695 fee for participants covers tuition, room and board for four
days and three nights. The application deadline is Jan. 23.

PSAP Assessors Sought
- University managers, analysts, management services officers or equivalent
are invited to serve as PSAP assessors. Assessors observe and evaluate
the PSAP participants professional skills. Assessors will meet professionals
from other UC locations and learn and practice techniques for describing
behavior and giving feedback.

MSAP Assessors Sought
- Managers and professional staff at the MSO III level, equivalent or
higher are needed to participate as assessors in the Management Skills
Assessment Program.
- As an assessor you will refine your group facilitation, performance
feedback and coaching skills while supporting the development of entry-level
supervisors and professional staff. Refer to the program description above.

- Health*Matters Walking Group. Ongoing, Mon.,Wed., Fri., 12:10
p.m., Campanile.
- Take a step towards a healthier lifestyle and enjoy a 30 to 35-minute
walk through campus every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 12:10 p.m. The
walking group meets at the Campanile. Make it part of your exercise routine,
burn calories, increase your energy and meet new people. No enrollment
necessary.

- Couples and Money. Dec. 10, 6-7:30 p.m.
- This early evening workshop, presented by a counselor from Consumer
Credit Counseling, will help couples to better communicate about their
money beliefs and motivations, understand money messages learned as a child,
avoid or reduce money conflicts in relationships and develop common goals
concerning money. A workbook is included.
- Spouses and partners are encouraged to attend.
- Issues of Aging: Common Mental Health Issues of Older Adults.
Dec. 12, noon-1:30 p.m. (including optional 30-minute discussion). Section

- Older persons commonly experience emotional difficulties as a result
of age-related life situations. In this presentation, Mary Anne D'Onofrio,
a clinical psychologist and specialist in geriatric mental health, will
discuss the emotional dynamics of aging with a focus on information and
resources useful to individuals caring for a parent or other adult. No
enrollment required.
Alcohol/Drugs/Substance Abuse: What Supervisors and Managers Should
Know. Dec. 12, noon-2:30 p.m.
- This CARE Services/Human Resources workshop offers campus supervisors
and managers training in how to carry out their responsibilities when working
with employees facing alcohol and other drug problems.
- The course covers the role of the supervisor/manager, guidelines for
successfully confronting employees when necessary and strategies for referring
employees for assistance.
- Education about the range of problems caused by alcohol and other drugs,
including family issues and legal/financial difficulties, will also be
provided.
