Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 19, for Donna Winters, former accounting assistant at IST-Communication and Network Services, who died Nov. 11 after a long struggle with cancer.

Winters began working at the university in 1986, and moved to Telecommunication Services (now part of Communication and Network Services) in 1988. Her colleagues in Communication and Network Services and those she worked with across the campus remember her as a true role model.

"Donna always looked at life with a positive view, and was never without a smile and a warm greeting." said CNS associate director Marv Eckard, to whom Winters reported for several years.

A Bay Area native, Winters was born in Martinez and raised in Richmond, where she attended Contra Costa College.

She was an active member of the Beacon Light Seventh-Day Adventist Church, where she shared her musical talents as a member of the choir, and held several church positions.

Winters is survived by her mother, Nordine Winters, of Richmond; her brother, Emmett A. Winters; her sisters, Margaret and Linda Winters; and several nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
