Mark Your Calendar for April 28: Teaching Award Ceremony by Steve Tollefson, Educational Development -- Student Life Asked late in his life about all the honors, including the Nobel Prize, he had received, Professor Luis Alvarez is said to have replied, But I didnt win the Distinguished Teaching Award. This year, five faculty members are adding that award to their list of accomplishments. The campuss annual Distinguished Teaching Award ceremony takes place Tuesday, April 28, at 5 p.m. in the Zellerbach Playhouse. A reception follows in the Toll Room of the Alumni House. Honored will be recipients Jesse Choper, Earl Warren professor of public law at Boalt Hall; Anne Haas Dyson, professor in the Graduate School of Education; Donald Friedman, professor of English; Patricia Jane Jones, lecturer in College Writing Programs; and Richard K. Lyons, associate professor at the Haas School of Business. The ceremony includes a slide-tape presentation about each honoree. It is free and open to the university community and to the public.
